What is shared accommodation ?

The Salty Pelican Surf & Yoga Retreat offers affordable accommodation for yogis travelling on a budget. Accommodation is usually in deluxe dormitory rooms, which have shared bathrooms and toilets close by in the hallways. Shared accommodation is a great social experience to meet other travellers while you have a good time listening and sharing stories with each other. Usually we attract 95% of our guests being solo travelling women aged between 22 - 55yrs of age, here for a relaxing week of yoga. Shared accommodation at The Salty Pelican is part of the reason why The Salty Pelican experience is so great. The hardest part about your stay will be having to leave us ;-) If you have any doubts, please read our reviews on TripAdvisor and Im certain they will ease your fears. I cannot always guarantee all female dorms but it most likely will be the case if you didnt already prebook one.

What do i need to check-in ?

You must have an ID-card or passport. No other proof of identity will be accepted.

When is check-in / check-out ?

Check-in: You can check in from 14:00pm and if you’re arriving earlier, we will do our best to have a bed ready for you as soon as we can. Please note: Reception closes at 22:00pm without prior notice. Check-ins after this time are only accepted by appointment via email or phone call beforte this time has expired. Check-out: Anytime in the morning up until the latest of 11:00am.

When is breakfast served? Is it included ?

Breakfast is served in the guest lounge between 7:30am and 10:00am. Breakfast is included in the price and is an all you can eat buffet of fresh bread, local fruits, cheeses, eggs, sliced vegetables, muesli's, yogurts, organic teas, coffee, soy milk, freshly baked pastries and fruit infused water.

Should i bring my own linen or towel ?

Linen is included in the price and beds are premade before your arrival. Don’t forget to bring a towel for the beach. You can also rent a towel at reception suitable for bathroom use. The price is €3 per towel.

Do you have lockers in the rooms ?

Yes we do... Every shared room has a personal locker for each guest under your bed.

What can i do with all my bags after check-out ?

You can store your luggage in our day storage for free after checking out. We are only allowed to hold your luggage till the end of that day only.

How do I arrive from Lisbon Airport ?

Please find the directions to The Salty pelican in both Cascais & Ericeira below... HOW TO ARRIVE Most travelers to Cascais and Ericeira arrive from either Lisbon’s international Airport or Lisbon city center. There are several ways to get to Cascais from there... PRIVATE AIRPORT TRANSFER... We can organise you private airport transfers that take just 25min to Cascais and 35 minutes to Ericeira, transfers are not included but can be arranged for €50 per car. Please send me your flight details including flights numbers to book the transfer. FROM THE AIRPORT TO CASCAIS - PUBLIC TRANSPORT... If you are coming from Lisbon airport, take the RED metro line towards São Sebastião and get off at the Alameda station and there you must change to GREEN line that will take you directly to Cais do Sodre train station (end of the line). Approximate journey time, 20 minutes. Ticket price: Approximately €1.80 From the aboveground Cais do Sodré train station, take the train that connects Lisbon to Cascais, and get off at Monte Estoril Station (2nd last stop before cascais). Sit on the left side of the train for the best views. Approximate journey time, 30 minutes. Ticket price: Approximately €2.70 At Monte Estoril train Station, you have 2 options: - Take a taxi. Average price 4,00€ or walk the 550m to our property. FROM THE AIRPORT TO ERICEIRA - PUBLIC TRANSPORT... Take the underground Metro from Lisbon airport to the bus terminal Campo Grande, which takes about 10 minutes. Then buses run every 90 minutes, start at 8am, and finish at 11pm and It takes 75 minutes to reach Ericeira. Ticket price: Approximately €7 Journey time: 85 min. From ERICEIRA bus station, its an easy 3 minute walk to our property or take a taxi to The Salty Pelican.

Do you sell alcohol, food or drinks ?

We have a fully stocked bar with all your favourites, including a large selection of local craft beers, local wines and water.

Is there a curfew or lockout ?

No... we trust you but in return we do ask that you respect the other guests and be quiet when you return to The Salty Pelican.

Can i be in a room with my friends ?

We try our best to allocate beds in the same room for friends travelling together. However, this is not always possible. Please contact us directly for any special requests, including accommodation in the same room.

Can I bring children ?

We do not recommend that young children stay at our retreat, as the atmosphere tends to be rather peaceful and mature. However, under special request we may be able to accommodate children depending on the season and retreats capacity. Children under 16 may only sleep in the same room as the parent and can only be in private room accommodation.

Can i bring visitors into the surf & yoga retreat ?

You are welcome to bring friends into the garden/patio of our retreat. Visitors are not allowed beyond the reception and lobby areas. This is for the security of all our guests who expect us to be able to identify everyone in the building and to provide a secure environment. Please understand that there are no exceptions to this rule. We are more than happy to point you the direction of nearby cafes, bars and restaurants where you can take your visitors.

Do you have wifi or internet access?

We have free wifi everywhere within the retreat.. even in your rooms.

What is your cancellation policy ?

1) ALL BOOKINGS secured with a Non-Refundable €24,99 p.p. deposit charged/authorised to the submitted "valid" credit card details or via PayPal deposit.
2) Full flexibility with FREE UNLIMITED changes up until 24hrs before arrival - including dates and destinations *
3) Valid for travel up to 12 months from date of purchase
4) Remaining balance paid on check-in date
5) In the event of a “No-Show“ your reservation will be cancelled automatically and the full booking amount charged to the supplied credit card
6) If you have booked via a 3rd party website (Bookyogaretreats.com), the buyer will need to adhere to the deposit and cancellation policies via that entity, and the policies written here will be declared null. 7) Changing the arrival/departure date/destination within 24hrs of arrival: 100% value of the first night of your reservation will be charged as a fee.
8) There are no refunds offered when requesting an earlier check-out date after you have already checked-in.
9) There are no refunds on any unused activities that are included in your package. Injury or sickness are the responsibility of each guest and their own travel insurance.
10) There are no refunds for bookings secured with a gift card/s and only the conditions/policies agreed to at the time of purchase will be applied. In addition to the sums detailed above, the Seller shall be entitled to retain any charges incurred in relation to any refund.

Do you have laundry facilities ?

Yes we do.. you have access to a washing machine ( €3 ) and dryer ( €2 ) per use.

Can i smoke in the yoga retreat ?

Our yoga retreat is a non smoking building. Anyone who breaks this rule will be asked to leave without any refund. We do however, provide the exclusive use of our outside patio, multi-level garden and balcony’s for smoking.

Do you have a guest kitchen ?

We have a fully staffed restaurant onsite serving up a delicious all day food & drinks menu on our sea view terrace at afforable rates. There is no kitchen available for guest use.

Do you have female only accommodation ?

Usually 95% of our guests are solo travelling women between the ages of 22 - 55yrs of age... all here for week of relaxing yoga. So an all female dorm would mostly be the case anyhow but we can only guarantee all female rooms when booking one of our female-only room upgrades at additional charge.

Reception hours ?

The reception is open for check-ins between 7:30am - 22:00pm. We can only accept arrivals later than 22:00 when requested beforehand via email or phone call only. Depending on the day, the reception may not be open later than 20:00 for already checked-in guests. If you have an early flight and need to leave before 7:30am, please arange check-out and balance payments the day/night before departure.

Where can we park our car ?

Theres plenty of space to park your car in the street outside The Salty Pelican for free.

I don’t have a credit card. How can i book ?

You can book using the booking widget found on our website pay via PayPal or send us an e-mail containing your booking request and your contact details. We will get back to you as soon as possible with the information required to make your booking.

Do you accept group bookings ?

Yes we do, please send us an email to make a booking for more then 10 persons and we can quote accordingly depending on the season.

Can i pay in another currency or with a credit card ?

We only accept euros or diamonds ;-) You can also pay with credit cards at the reception but please note that a service charge of 3% will apply for all card payments
