Hiriketiya Discover The Salty Pelican in Sri Lanka, a newly constructed retreat completed in December 2019. Our modern and secure property offers premium shared and private rooms all with ensuite bathrooms and balconies/terraces overlooking the pool, accommodating up to 40 guests. BAJA MEXICAN
The central meeting point to start your day or nightly adventures; the perfect place to meet fellow yogis from all over the world. Here you can enjoy a swim in our mirror pool with light background music, read a book while catching some sun in one of our sun loungers or just relax in a poolside bean bag with a nice glass of chilled goodness.
This is an honest Baja Mexican restaurant where you’ll find no Lankan-Mex cliches — only wholly authentic-tasting tacos, ice-cold beers, spicy mango margaritas and a simple but modern Boho setting where banter and good vibes are guaranteed to gush.
Pull up a seat. Kick back. This is where we unwind and indulge. It’s that stepping-off-the-plane-in-a-foreign-country vibe, it’s the weight of a margarita in hand, it’s that Sri Lankan sea breeze.
The Backyard is adamant about keeping our food offering small and delicious — no dishes acting as purely menu fillers here. You’ll have a straightforward choice of four tacos: Baja Pescado, Cajun Camaron, Baja Pollo and Crispy Cauliflower. Running alongside this will be an ever-evolving fresh and unfussed Pequeno menu including Al Pastor Mushroom Quesadillas, Guacamole & Hummus dips, Crunchy nachos and loaded potato fries, that the team are excited for you to share amongst friends.
In the space, there’s a covered dining area for friends & couples, and an poolside sun lounger s and beanbags area for those who want to chat whilst they sip cocktails, munch tacos and take in the tropical vibes. While The Backyard might not be a dusty cactus-filled garden in Mexico but the tropical pool vibes and dedication to flavour more than make up for this fact!

On your arrival day, a schedule is open to book your Ayurvedic treatments. Our wellness and spa area is located in our tropical peaceful gardens and has two poolside rooms where we pamper your bodies with our variety of Ayurvedic treatments, body scrubs and massages. Really take the time to appreciate and absorb the special oils that your body and mind needs. Our relaxing Ayurvedic massages and head massages will make your stay even more zen after a good day of surf or exploring…
