  • Booking flexibility & conditions ?
    Hey there, thank you for choosing The Salty Pelican for your yoga and surf retreat in Portugal. By making a booking with us, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before confirming your trip. We've got a quick rundown of our terms and conditions to save you from diving into the depths of fine print. We've handpicked the juiciest bits for you to know, but hey, still give it a read! Here are the 8 major terms you should keep in mind: Booking and Payment: Gotta secure your spot with a 50% deposit and any remaining balance is payable on arrival – no funny business here. Cancellation and Refunds: If your plans go haywire, we've got FREE CANCELLATION UP UNTIL 48 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL DATE ( not your arrival time ) policy, but remember, there may be a few non-refundable fees lurking around. Changes Requested by the Traveler: Fancy a tweak to your package tour? Let us know, but certain restrictions apply, like the timing and availability of changes. A little flexibility goes a long way. Travel Insurance: We highly recommend getting travel insurance because, you know, life happens. Take care of it yourself, and we'll take care of the adventure. Please note that there are no refunds for any unused activities included in your tour package. In the unfortunate event of injury or sickness, it is solely the responsibility of each guest to have their own travel insurance coverage. Your well-being is a priority, so make sure you're protected and ready for an incredible experience with us. Early Check-Out Package Refunds: Once you have checked-in and commenced your stay, we regret to inform you that refunds will not be provided for any requested early check-out dates or tour package changes. We kindly ask our guests to plan their stay duration accordingly, as changes to the check-out date or tour package after check-in will not be eligible for a refund. We appreciate your understanding in this matter. Third-Party Bookings: For reservations made through a third-party website such as www.bookyogaretreats.com, it is important to note that the deposit and cancellation policies of that specific platform will apply. In such cases, the terms and conditions outlined in this document will be rendered null and void. Late Check-in: It is important to note that check-ins are not permitted after 22:00 PM. To arrange a late check-in due to unexpected delays, please contact our reception at +351 932 560 967 before the designated cut-off time. Adults Only Yoga & Surf Retreat: Please note that our retreat is exclusively for adults. Persons under the age of 16 are not permitted to stay at our property without prior written consent via email peniche@saltypelicantretreats.com Now that you've got the highlights, take a moment to give the full terms and conditions a once-over.   • What is shared accommodation ?
    The Salty Pelican Surf & Yoga Retreat warmly welcomes budget-conscious yogis seeking affordable accommodations. Our premium shared rooms, typically chosen for their cost-effectiveness, provide a comfortable and inviting space for guests. Private ensuite bathrooms or shared bathrooms and toilets conveniently located in the hallways are readily accessible to all guests staying depending on final room choice booked. Embracing shared accommodation offers a fantastic social experience, allowing you to connect with fellow travelers, exchange stories, and create lasting memories together. It's worth mentioning that our retreat predominantly attracts solo traveling women, between the ages of 22 and 55, who are seeking a rejuvenating week of yoga. The shared accommodation experience at The Salty Pelican is a key element that contributes to the overall excellence of our retreat. We take pride in the positive feedback we receive from our guests, as reflected in the reviews on TripAdvisor. If you have any concerns or reservations, we encourage you to peruse these reviews, as they are sure to alleviate any doubts. While we cannot guarantee the availability of all-female rooms at all times, they are usually available when booking in advance.   • Do you have female only accommodation ?
    We take pride in providing our guests with a safe and comfortable environment tailored to their needs. At our establishment, we understand that the majority of our clientele consists of solo female travelers aged between 22 and 55 years, who seek a rejuvenating week of relaxing yoga. While we strive to accommodate our guests' preferences, we can ensure all female room options when booking one of our exclusive female-only room upgrades, which may incur an additional charge. This guarantees a harmonious and supportive atmosphere where women can connect, unwind, and fully embrace their wellness journey.
  • Im a digital Nomad do you have any private work spaces or desks ?
    It's not a pure co-working space but a very balanced & friendly work vibe area. We have communal indoor and outdoor dining areas where you can work from on your laptop or phone. If you looking for private work areas, or private offices we do not offer this option unfortunately. Perfect place to work if you do not require privacy but prefer a communal shared atmosphere with regular yoga & surf guests. ​
  • How do I arrive from Lisbon Airport ?
    Please find the directions to The Salty pelican in Cascais, Ericeira & Peniche below... HOW TO ARRIVE Most travelers to Cascais, Ericeira and Peniche arrive from either Lisbon’s international Airport or Lisbon city center. There are several ways to arrive at our retreats.. PRIVATE AIRPORT TRANSFER CASCAIS... We can organise you private airport transfers that take just 25min to Cascais, 30 minutes to Ericeira and 50 minutes to Peniche. Transfers are not included in your package but can be arranged for €50 ONE-WAY per car to Cascais, €60 to Ericeira or €110 to Peniche. When booking a return journey, discounts may apply. Please send us your flight details including flights numbers to book the transfer. FROM THE AIRPORT TO CASCAIS - PUBLIC TRANSPORT... If you are coming from Lisbon airport, take the RED metro line towards São Sebastião and get off at the Alameda station and there you must change to GREEN line that will take you directly to Cais do Sodre train station (end of the line). Approximate journey time, 20 minutes. Ticket price: Approximately €1.80 From the aboveground Cais do Sodré train station, take the train that connects Lisbon to Cascais, and get off at Monte Estoril Station (2nd last stop before cascais). Sit on the left side of the train for the best views. Approximate journey time, 30 minutes. Ticket price: Approximately €2.70 At Monte Estoril train Station, you have 2 options: - Take a taxi. Average price 4,00€ or walk the 700m to our property. FROM THE AIRPORT TO ERICEIRA - PUBLIC TRANSPORT... Take the underground Metro from Lisbon airport to the bus terminal Campo Grande, which takes about 10 minutes. Then buses run every 30-60 minutes, start at 6 am, and finish at 8 pm and It takes 75 minutes to reach Ericeira or 55 minute with express buses. *Please check bus timetables before arriving in Portugal, links are found on our LOCATION page Weekends and holidays offer limited services, so please check in advance ! ​ Ticket price: Approximately €7 ​ Journey time: 85 min. From ERICEIRA bus station, its a 15 minute walk to our property or take a taxi to The Salty Pelican. Useful links: www.carrismetropolitana.pt/horarios/ FROM THE AIRPORT TO PENICHE - PUBLIC TRANSPORT... Take the underground Metro from Lisbon airport to the bus terminal Campo Grande, which takes about 10 minutes or an uber to Sete Rios bus terminal (25 min). Rodotejo buses depart every 90 minutes from Campo Grande to Peniche, starting at 8 am and finish at 9 pm. Rede Expressos buses departs every hour from Sete Rios to Peniche, starting at 7 am and finish at 7 pm It takes approximately 85 minutes to reach Peniche. Exit the bus at the last stop. *Please check bus timetables before arriving in Portugal, links are found on our LOCATION page Weekends and holidays offer limited services, so please check in advance ! Ticket price: Approximately €8,70 Journey time: 85 min. On arrival in Peniche you can either catch a bus to Baleal (please check schedules in advance as the service is very limited) or the more convenient and faster option, take a taxi straight to The Salty Pelican in just a few minutes drive. We recommend booking a direct airport transfer to avoid any hassle or delays on arrival at Peniche bus station, as we do not have a transfer service available from the bus station, sometimes the taxis are unavailable and we are a 40 minute walk away from the station.   • What do i need to check-in ?
    You must have an ID-card or passport. No other proof of identity will be accepted.
  • When is check-in / check-out ?
    Check-in: You can check in from 14:00 pm and if you’re arriving earlier, we will do our best to have a bed ready for you as soon as we can. Please note: Reception closes at 22:00 pm without prior notice. Check-ins after this time are only accepted by appointment via email or phone call before this time has expired. Check-out: Only from 08:00 am until the latest of 11:00am. If you need to depart earlier than 08:00 am, any remaining balances need to be paid the day before departure. Late check-outs: In order to maintain our flexible calendar start dates and ensure a smooth transition for incoming guests, we regret to inform you that late check-outs are not possible. However, we are more than happy to accommodate your needs by providing luggage storage facilities, allowing you to continue using our amenities and enjoy the pool until your preferred departure time. Please note that the use of showers and bathrooms after the designated check-out time is not available. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to our check-out policy, as it allows us to efficiently prepare the rooms for incoming guests while still providing you with the opportunity to make the most of your stay at The Salty Pelican Surf & Yoga Retreat.
  • When is breakfast served? Is it included ?
    Breakfast is served in the guest lounge between 8:00am and 10:00am. A delicious healthy breakfast buffet is served each morning with some freshly baked bread, fresh fruits, natural yogurts, vegetables, homemade hummus, jams, muesli & cereals, dried fruits, mixed nuts, chia seeds, cheeses, chorizo, eggs, Nespresso coffee pods, soy milk, herbal detox teas, fruit infused water and a delicious hot section with warm dishes varying throughout the week. Breakfast is included in the price, if you booked an all inclusive package available from our website only. Breakfast price: Optional €20 p.p. per day (non-package bookings)
  • Should i bring my own linen or towel ?
    As part of our commitment to your comfort and convenience, we are pleased to offer complimentary linen for your stay, only changed every 3 days or earlier on request only (eco-friendly). Rest assured, your beds will be thoughtfully prepared and made prior to your arrival, ensuring a warm and welcoming ambiance from the moment you step into your room. In addition, we understand the importance of having access to fresh towels during your stay. That's why we provide complimentary bathroom and pool towels, conveniently provided at check-in.
  • Do you have lockers in the rooms ?
    Yes we do... Every shared room has a personal electronically locked drawer/safe under each guest bed or as a personal secured hanging & storage wardrobe. They are both only accessed with your personally assigned RFID security wrist bracelet.
  • What can i do with all my bags after check-out ?
    You can store your luggage in our day storage for free after checking out. We are only allowed to hold your luggage till the end of that day only.
  • Do you sell alcohol, food or drinks ?"
    CASCAIS, ERICEIRA & PENICHE: We have an honest Baja Mexican restaurant where you’ll find no Portuguese-Mex cliches — only wholly authentic-tasting tacos, ice-cold beers, spicy mango margaritas and a simple but modern Boho setting where banter and good vibes are guaranteed to gush. The Backyard is adamant about keeping our food offering small and delicious — no dishes acting as purely menu fillers here. You’ll have a straightforward choice of six tacos: Baja Pecado, Cajun Camaron, Baja Pollo, Coliflor and Asada Mushroom. All of these delights come on pillowy corn-based tortillas — meaning zero gluten for you, compadre! Running alongside this will be an ever-evolving fresh and unfused Pequeno menu including Loaded Fries, Al Pastor Mushroom Quesadilla, Quesadilla Estilo Fajita, Guacamole, Mexican Hummus and Nachos that the team are excited for you to share amongst friends. ALL RETREATS: We offer four scheduled group dinner evenings each week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday), where you can sign up for dinners at an additional charge if they are not already included in your package. Please note that dinners are subject to cancellation due to unforeseen extreme weather conditions and minimum sign-up numbers. On Thursdays and Saturdays evenings, we may also schedule sourdough pizza & wine nights, where you can sign up for an additional charge. SEE MENU
  • Is there a curfew or lockout ?
    No... we trust you but in return we do ask that you respect the other guests and be quiet when you return to The Salty Pelican.
  • Can i be in a room with my friends ?
    We try our best to allocate beds in the same room for friends travelling together. However, this is not always possible. Please contact us directly for any special requests, including accommodation in the same room.
  • Can I bring children ?
    To ensure the tranquility and mature atmosphere of our retreat, we have established a policy regarding guests under the age of 16. Generally, we do not accept bookings for individuals under this age without prior written consent. It is important to note that any arrival of guests under 16 without prior approval may result in the cancellation of their booking. We strongly advise against young children staying at our retreat, as the ambiance is typically geared towards peace and serenity. However, we understand that there may be exceptional circumstances or special requests. Depending on the season and the capacity of our retreat, we may be able to accommodate children under 16 in private room accommodation, provided they sleep in the same room as their parent or guardian. Please reach out to us in advance to discuss your specific requirements, and we will do our best to assist you.
  • Can i bring visitors into the surf & yoga retreat ?
    To ensure the safety, comfort, and security of all our valued guests, we kindly request that you obtain prior approval from The Salty Pelican management before inviting any outside visitors onto our premises. We want to provide an environment that fosters a peaceful and enjoyable experience for everyone staying at our retreat. Therefore, we have implemented a policy that restricts outside visitors from entering without prior approval. This policy includes overnight stays by visitors or guests not included in the original booking. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to this rule, as it enables us to maintain a secure and pleasant atmosphere for all our guests. If you have any concerns or questions regarding this policy, please don't hesitate to reach out to our management team for further clarification.
  • Do you have wifi or internet access?
    We have free wifi everywhere within the retreat.. even in your rooms.
  • Do you have laundry facilities ?
    Yes we do.. On request only, it may be possible to have your clothes washed and dried by our staff. Wash & dry costs €15. Please kindly note, that this service may not be available during certain hour or days.
  • Can i smoke in the yoga retreat ?
    Our yoga retreat is a non smoking building. Anyone who breaks this rule will be asked to leave without any refund. We do however, provide the exclusive use of our outside patio, multi-level garden and balcony’s for smoking.
  • Do you have a guest kitchen ?
    CASCAIS: Whether you're looking to store your groceries in the fridge, prepare a quick meal using the cooking elements or warm up leftovers in the microwave, our kitchen has you covered. We also provide a wide array of utensils, cups, plates, and glasses, ensuring that you have everything necessary to enjoy your meals comfortably. With our thoughtfully curated kitchen amenities, you can feel right at home and have the freedom to prepare your own meals during your stay at The Salty Pelican. This is our only retreat location that offers a shared guest kitchen. ERICEIRA & PENICHE: Indulge in a delightful culinary experience at our fully staffed onsite restaurant, where a delectable all-day menu awaits you on our picturesque sea view terrace. Our restaurant offers a diverse selection of delicious dishes and refreshing beverages at affordable rates, ensuring that your dining experience is both satisfying and memorable. It's important to note that we do not provide kitchen facilities or refrigeration services for guest use.
  • Reception hours ?
    Our reception operates between the hours of 8:00 am and 10:00 pm, ensuring that our dedicated staff is available to assist you during your stay. We kindly request our guests to be mindful of our check-in policy, as check-ins are not permitted after 10:00 pm. In the event of unforeseen delays that may cause a late arrival, please make sure to contact our reception at +351 932 560 967 before the designated cut-off time. Our team will be happy to make arrangements for your late check-in. For guests with early flights requiring a departure before 8:00 am, we recommend coordinating your check-out and settling any outstanding balances on the day or evening prior to your departure. This allows for a smooth and efficient departure process, ensuring you can catch your flight without any delays or inconveniences.   • Where can we park our car ?
    There's limited space to park your car in the street outside The Salty Pelican for free. However as its public parking, spots cannot be guaranteed or reserved.
  • I don’t have a credit card. How can i book ?
    Send us an e-mail containing your booking request and your contact details. We will get back to you as soon as possible with the information required to make your booking with a bank transfer.
  • Do you accept group bookings ?
    Yes we do, please send us an email to make a booking for more then 10 persons and we can quote accordingly depending on the season.
  • What forms of payment do you accept at your property?
    We only accept euros or diamonds ;-) You can also pay with credit/debit cards at the reception but please note that a service charge of 3% will apply for all card payments
