Yoga... Our Package offers an excellent detailed introduction to Hatha & Yin yoga for beginners and the chance to dive deep into more advanced practice. Yoga is for everyone, so you don't need to have any prior experience and we welcome complete beginners. We have a diverse daily program for both yoga and meditation, with multiple styles of classes including Hatha and Yin spread throughout the day for you to pick and choose the best time slots during your stay with us. This gives our guests plenty of flexibility when planning their days with their alternative activities like surfing and exploring the local areas. Practicing Hatha & Yin yoga will help to harmonise the nervous system, increase your sense of balance with the body & mind and strengthen your lymphatic system. There is no yoga scheduled all day Mondays or on Friday mornings to give you the time to enjoy some other activities and tours we offer, like exploring the beautiful Udawalawe and Yala National Parks located a short half day trip away. We have our own beautiful covered yoga shala deck surrounded by lush tropical jungle on our property and we provide all yoga mats and equipment.
Sunrise Meditation Class... Our teachers will guide you through a 20 minute session at our relaxing raised jungle yoga shala, to find balance with your body, emotions and thoughts. Learn to relax with different breathing exercises, it's the perfect way to start the day. These classes are held each morning except for on Monday & Friday, as these mornings we have the national park safari tours departing.
Hatha Yoga... Following the sunrise meditation you have a choice to join the following Hatha yoga class directly afterwards or you can choose to join our later mid morning class scheduled around 09:00 am. Giving you plenty of time to either sleep in, go for an early morning surf or just relax. Experience revitalizing Hatha Yoga sequences to give you all the energy and focus you need for the day. Our in-house yoga instructors will help develop muscular strength, stamina, flexibility, balance, and breathing. They will help bring balance to your body and mind during the morning practice, so that we build our bodies to be light and strong for the day. The mental benefits of yoga include an increased sense of focus and awareness to the human form and body. This practice is for all level yogis.... You don’t need any earlier experience. We have two separate start times each morning, except on Monday & Friday mornings where there is no morning classes.
Afternoon Sunset Yin Yoga & Meditation... Lock in that calm and rejuvenated feeling with our late afternoon Yin yoga practice. We start our practice right before sunset at either our relaxing raised jungle yoga shala or on our sunset rooftop yoga platform with gorgeous sunset panoramas. We hold long deep postures with a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Almost every posture is done at ground level and the stretches will maintain for 2-5 minutes at a time. This will take us deeply into our connective tissue expanding flexibility and aiding healing energy to our bodies. This practice is for everyone and it's a beautiful way to start your yoga journey. Traditionally the Yin evening classes are more soft, slow, restorative to integrate with the days surfing activities and prepare the body for a great rest overnight. Let yourself emerge into a nice flow of your yoga practice. Enjoy breathing, relax your body, muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and also your mind.
Unlimited Surfboard Use... There is no surf lessons included in this package, giving you plenty of time to free surf using one of our surfboards from our diverse range available for unlimited guest use during your stay with us. You can also book a surf lesson at additional rates once you are here and our certified surf instructors follow a very unique approach in teaching and will make sure that you learn the proper surf techniques. The unique geography of our location means we have rideable waves almost every day of the year. Grab a surfboard anytime you like and try different types from soft to hard or long to short boards during your stay with us.
Wellness & Spa... On your arrival day, a schedule is open to book your full body massages, body scrubs and other Ayurvedic treatments. Our wellness and spa area is located in our beautiful peaceful gardens and has two poolside rooms where we pamper your bodies with treatments. Really take the time to appreciate and absorb the special oils that your body and mind needs. Our relaxing Ayurvedic massages and head massages will make your stay even more zen after a good day of surf and exploring… Help your body to find the perfect balance. * Included in your package, is one 50 minute full body massage and one 20 minute body treatment of choice from our spa menu.
Breakfast, Restaurant & Infinity Pool... Included in your 3-night package is our daily à la carte breakfast and 1 group dinners served from our poolside restaurant. You also can savour our delicious all day & all night à la carte lunch and dinner menus at anytime during your stay with us. This gives you flexibility and the chance to explore local flavours from other nearby restaurants during your week here if you desire. Take a choice each morning from our diverse à la carte breakfast including detox smoothie bowls, power boosting toasts, fresh fruit platters and grilled options including Sri Lankan inspired vegetarian delights. Our all-day menu is filled with poolside snacks, healthy drinks, delicious cocktails, amazing coffee... Lay-back in our poolside bean bags or sun loungers all day... order a drink and truly relax… you are going to love every moment here at The Salty Pelican. We organise special group dinners four times a week, with our seafood/Vegetarian BBQ dinners and Sri Lanka Curry & Rice and all things nice dinners... One of these nights are set as your included dinners. In the evening our poolside restaurant comes alive with our unique sharing menu concept, filled with mouth watering additions... a perfect way to end the day sharing some tasty dishes together. Each night we try and collect all our guests together to socialise at our poolside restaurant... it's a wonderful and unique atmosphere. We also offer you one free cocktail on one evening from our poolside bar.
National Park Safari Tours... Leopards, elephants, birdlife in abundance – Sri Lanka is a wildlife lover's paradise and is one of the best places in Asia for seeing wildlife. Both Yala and Udawalawe have stunning landscapes, so whichever park you decide to visit for your safari, you will find the landscapes very enjoyable and unique. Udawalawe is in our opinion the best safari in Sri Lanka because it provides a truly gratifying experience. You can get very close to animals, particularly the elephants, and you're never really bothered by other jeeps and tourists. Whilst your chances of spotting leopards at Udawalawe are less likely than at Yala, there is nonetheless a healthy leopard population in Udawalawe that sightings do happen. You're also almost guaranteed to spot Sri Lankan elephants as well as red spotted deers, wild water buffalo, sloth bears, crocodiles, monkeys and many different species of birds. Best mornings to join this tours is on both on Monday and Friday mornings, as we have no yoga or meditation scheduled on those mornings. Other mornings can also be pre booked where possible. This activity is an optional extra and not included in the package price but you should definitely make time to to visit one.
