Surf & Yoga Retreat Sri Lanka... Practice Yoga in a breathtaking location...Surf in Sri Lanka's perfect waves... Relax and sleep in our laid back yoga retreat... and eat well to restore, revive and feel amazing... Those wishing to combine the traditional delights of Hiriketiya with a week of surfing and yoga, can take advantage of some of the best beginner to intermediate waves on the Southern Coast of Sri Lanka, right at your fingertips. The Short & Sweet Package program aims to make sure you get the most from your experience in Sri Lanka whether you are an experienced surfer or have never tried it before. Surfing gets you fit, tanned and you’ll make some great new friends in the process. After an active day of laughs and spills, you can relax with our morning or late afternoon yoga & meditation sessions before sitting around the infinity pool at the The Salty Pelican with some ice cold drinks from our poolside restaurant and your new friends. Our friendly, highly experienced team will help you develop your own yoga practice, teach you how to surf a wave and create the perfect experience. Just a great week of fun, sun, sand, surf, yoga, meditation, good people, good times and good vibes....

Yoga... Our Package offers an excellent detailed introduction to Hatha flow yoga for beginners and the chance to dive deeper into more advanced practice. Our yoga classes are held each day at our beautiful open but covered yoga shala which is surrounded by peaceful jungle. Practicing Hatha flow & Yin yoga will help to harmonise the nervous system, increase your sense of balance with the body & mind and strengthen your lymphatic system. There is no yoga scheduled all day on Monday or on Friday afternoon, to give you the time to enjoy either some other activities we offer like joining our elephant safari tour exploring the beautiful Udawalawe National Park, which is a short half day trip away. You can join your first included yoga class on your arrival date in the late afternoon, if it does not fall on a Monday on Friday and all yoga mats & equipment is provided. 

 

Meditation...   Our teachers will guide you through some meditation during each yoga class at our relaxing raised jungle yoga shala, to find balance with your body, emotions and thoughts. Learn to relax with different breathing exercises, it's the perfect way to start and finish the day.  Throughout each week we also schedule some separate complimentary  breathwork  & meditation classes. 

Morning Hatha Yoga... Experience revitalising Hatha flow yoga sequences in the morning at our jungle engulfed yoga shala to give you all the energy and focus you need for the day. Our in-house yoga instructors will help develop muscular strength, stamina, flexibility, balance, and breathing. They will bring balance to your body and mind during our morning practice, so that we build our bodies to be light and strong. The mental benefits of yoga include an increased sense of focus and awareness to the human form and body. This practice is for all level yogis.... You don’t need any earlier experience. During peak periods December till March, we may at times schedule two separate start times for this morning Hatha class, giving you plenty of flexibility to join the early class, or go for an early morning surf or time to just sleep in a little longer. *There's no morning Hatha classes scheduled on Monday mornings.

 

Afternoon Yin Yoga... In the late afternoon we start with a gentle Yin yoga & meditation session in our beautiful yoga shala before beginning. Yin yoga which focuses on increasing your inner peace, harmony, love and joy. We hold long deep postures with a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Almost every posture is done at floor level and the stretches will maintain for 2-5 minutes at a time. This will take us deeply into our connective tissue expanding flexibility and aiding healing energy to our bodies. This practice is for everyone and it's a beautiful way to start your yoga journey. * There is no Yin yoga classes scheduled on both Monday afternoon or Friday afternoon. 

Unlimited Surfboard Use...   There is no surf lessons included in this package, giving you plenty of time to free surf using one of our surfboards from our diverse range available for unlimited guest use during your stay with us. You can also book a surf lesson at additional rates once you are here and our certified surf instructors follow a very unique approach in teaching and will make sure that you learn the proper surf techniques. The unique geography of our location means we have rideable waves almost every day of the year. Grab a surfboard anytime you like and try different types from soft to hard or long to short boards during your stay with us. 

Wellness & Spa... On your arrival day, a schedule is open to book your full body massages, body scrubs and other Ayurvedic treatments. Our wellness and spa area is located in our beautiful peaceful gardens and has two poolside rooms where we pamper your bodies with treatments. Really take the time to appreciate and absorb the special oils that your body and mind needs. Our relaxing Ayurvedic massages and head massages will make your stay even more zen after a good day of surf and exploring… Help your body to find the perfect balance. * Included in your package, is one 50 minute full body massage and one 20 minute body treatment of choice from our spa menu. 

Breakfast, Restaurant   & Infinity Pool...   Included in your 3-night package is our daily à la carte breakfast and 1 group dinners served from our poolside restaurant. You can also savour our delicious all day & all night à la carte lunch and dinner menus at anytime during your stay with us. This gives you flexibility and the chance to explore local flavours from other restaurants nearby. Take a choice each morning from our diverse à la carte breakfast including a fresh fruit platter, daily juice, coffee, tea each and one of some of the following each day... smashed avocado + beetroot hummus on crispy bread, delicious shakshuka, scrambled eggs with coconut symbol, marinated grilled mushrooms on hummus toast or Benedict hoppers and more. Our all-day menu is filled with poolside snacks, healthy juices, delicious cocktails and amazing coffee... Lay-back in our poolside bean bags or sun loungers all day... order a drink and truly relax… you are going to love every moment here at The Salty Pelican. We organise special group dinners four times a week, with our seafood/Vegetarian BBQ dinners and Sri Lanka Curry & Rice and all things nice dinners... One of these nights are set as your included dinners. Each evening our poolside restaurant comes alive which is the  perfect way to end the day sharing some tasty food & drinks together with wonderful and unique atmosphere.

 

Udawalawe   National Park Safari Tours...  Leopards, elephants, birdlife in abundance – Sri Lanka is a wildlife lover's paradise and is one of the best places in Asia for seeing wildlife. Udawalawe national park is in our opinion the best safari in Sri Lanka because it provides a truly gratifying experience. You can get very close to animals, particularly the elephants, and you're never really bothered by other jeeps and tourists. Whilst your chances of spotting leopards at Udawalawe are less likely than at Yala, there is nonetheless a healthy leopard population in Udawalawe that sightings do happen. You're also guaranteed to spot Sri Lankan elephants as well as red spotted deers, wild water buffalo, sloth bears, crocodiles, monkeys and many different species of birds. Best afternoons to join this tours is on both Monday and Friday afternoons, as we do not have yoga classes scheduled those afternoons. Other times can also be pre booked where possible. This activity is an optional extra and not included in the package price but you should definitely make time to to visit Udawalawe. 

  

Of course you can also book extras such as extra days, surf lessons, body treatments, massages and airport transfers  in addition to this package.

Conditions...   You can join as many of our scheduled yoga classes during your stay with us. Yoga is twice a day everyday except all day on Mondays and also on Friday afternoons, instead we have the Udawalawe National Park safari tour scheduled these afternoons. You can choose to join your first yoga class either in the afternoon on your arrival day (if it does not fall on Monday or Friday) or the following morning. * There are no refunds for any unused yoga classes. 

Sunday Arrivals:    If your arrival day falls on a Sunday, your first yoga class is scheduled on that afternoon between the starting time between 4pm - 6pm usually. If you miss this class, your first yoga class will commence on Tuesday morning, as there is no yoga classes scheduled all day on Monday.
