Our Story          

 

The Salty Pelican was born in 2015 in Cascais, Portugal, from the unique bond of three friends with diverse backgrounds. Gareth, originally from Australia, left for Austria in pursuit of his love for snowboarding, where he met Monika from Tirol, Austria. United by their passion for travel, mountains and the sea, over a period of 10 years they explored over 25 countries together, working in over 10 of them. During a surf trip to Portugal in 2009, they crossed paths with Tiago, a local surfer in Nazare. A friendship blossomed and years later, they decided to create a yoga and surf retreat in Cascais. This was just the beginning. Today, the Salty Pelican brand spans four locations in Portugal and Sri Lanka, all driven by their shared commitment to crafting exceptional guest experiences.
